Mary Poppins' Carousel Horses

Remember when Bert and Mary took the children through the chalk drawings to the fair?  There was frivolity and dancing, penguins and a horse race!

I thought I would make some little carousel horse belly boxes that hold Bert's chalk for our Mary Poppins themed month here at Paper Tree.

First up I downloaded the Horse Belly Boxes from My Scrap Chick. The file comes with a card and badge template too!

I used the colours from the Mary Poppins movie to colour my horses, and then drew on the swirls and lines to create decoration.  I also added some gems for sparkle.  Lastly, once everything was pieced together I added some paper straws to act as the poles that the carousel horses are held up on.

Then I filled the boxes with shredded paper and placed the coloured chalk inside.

Aren't they cute?! Mary rode the purple horse and Bert rode the yellow one.  These belly boxes have quite an ample storage area and can be filled with all sorts of goodies.

These boxes will line the party table, with lots of other coloured carousel horses.
